So psu fried out last night and my question is did it take my cpu with it. With the new psu installed everything turns on but I get no beeps, no post and the cpu fan doesn't spin. The new psu is 50 watts less than the old one but I don't think that is the problem.

Solution
1. Check and double check your connections including the 4-8 pin CPU aux connector.
2. Reset CMOS.
3. Re-seat the RAM and video card.
4. If none of that works then most likely it was the motherboard that fried and not the stuff connected to it, so sadly you should probably start by replacing that.

edit: but before you assume it's the MOBO test the RAM by going to one stick only and rotating sticks and rotating slots - any components you can check you should check, but I still think it's probably the motherboard.
