Does having an SSD improve games performance?

I have heard rumors that some games may benefit from having an SSD from not just faster load times but increased performance too. Is this true, true for some games (apparently Arma games and DayZ mod in particular) or false?

Yes, a SSD will speed loading times & whenever the game needs data not already in memory.

The more the game has to load, the more benefit from having a SSD. So that could translate into less time spent looking at a "loading" bar or even seemingly a smoother experience as the game can load what it needs faster.
