I want to build an AMD system but I know very little about them.

MSI - http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Micro-Motherboard-A88XM-GAMING/dp/B00J6DLQ1O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1400097255&sr=8-1&keywords=A88XM+GAMING

I like the motherboard above but it says FM2+ support and I don't know what chipsets fit this. It is an Micro ATX board but there is a full ATX bt i will not be using all the ports so i went MATX.

ASUS -

The board above is cheaper and it says AM3+ support.

So can someone tell me which board is better for long hours of games such as BF4, Assassins Creed and Watch dogs, explain AMD chipsets alittle and recommend a chip for both of these boards so I can see what they look like.

FM2+ is the newest mainsteam platform from AMD, and supports FM2 and FM2+ APUs and CPUs.

AM3+ is the newest enthusiast platform from AMD and supports AM3 and AM3+ CPUs.

The AM3+ CPUs can have up to 8 cores, so if your game can utilize that many cores it will run better on this platform with an 8 core CPU.

The chip sets are the north-bridge and south-bridge, which are on the boards already. The FM2+ and AM3+ refers to what CPU will work with the board. The FM2+ socket only works with AMD A line APUs, and the AM3+ socket works with the FX line of processors. For gaming the FX line is much better, but the processors do not have on board GPUs, so a separate GPU will be needed. I would say that the FX8320 or FX8350 processors would work for your needs. I would go with the 8320 if I was going to overclock, and the 8350 if I was going to stay at stock. Due to the power draw of the 8 core AMD processors, if you plan on overclocking them, a ATX motherboard will be needed. ASUS and ASRock are the most reliable motherboard makers. The 8 core CPUs also make a lot of heat, and if using the stock cooler, noise. An aftermarket cooler like the H80i or H100i would do well for cooling them. Go with the H100i for overclocking, H80i for regular stock use.

I understand everything except "Will an FX series CPU work with FM2+ motherboard. So will the FX8320 you mentioned work with the MSI A88X gaming FM2+ socket? Also what's a good processor for the MSI board above? If you do not recommend using the FM3+ socket for gaming, do you know an nice AM3+ motherboards cause this is my first build and I would like it to look kind of stylish and form. Anywhere around $100 USD would be great. Not going to be doing high rates of overclocking. Just simple rates to see what it is like and I'll be using the CM Evo 212 .

A good middle upper board for AM3+ is the ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0. A good, solid board, with an AMD 990 chipset, for the 8 core FX CPUs, whether you overclock or not. I know of a number of people who have used these in their AMD FX systems, and all have sung their praises.

Just a suggestion; I have had a couple of friends use a 970 chipset board with 8 core FX CPUs, and a few of them have either had dead boards after a while, or savage 'throttling' where the CPU cannot sustain its full speed, causing dips in performance and instability. I cannot speak for others experiences, but thought I would pass that along in case it helps you out. The 970 chipset seems to work perfectly with the lower wattage/core FX CPUs (Fx 4300, 6300, etc), but seem to disagree with the FX 8 core CPUs (FX 8320, 8350). Others may tell you differently.

Oh yes. I have a MSI 970A G46 right now, and I can tell you that the phase circuits heat up to oven temps at 100% CPU usage, and that is not over clocked. In order to use the FX8350 you will need a AM3+ board. @sapperasto mentioned a good one, and there are even better (more expensive) boards out there. The world record over clock of 8.4Ghz was done with an AMD 8 core processor and the ASUS Crosshair V Formula Z.
