Hi guys,

I've trawled the posts here to find similar instances and from what i can see the 4670k is rather a hot CPU however im having some issues whereby mine is hitting 75-85c when running a game such as guildwars 2, when im doing absolutely nothing ingame.

Ive run Prime95 and it hit 99c on all cores except one which hit 100c and running FurMark returns the same sort of temps.

Its running off a Corsair h60 2013 edition, i've re-applied some Akasa Pro-grade 460 thermal compound twice today as i was paranoid about not doing it right the first time.

After feeling the water pipes after shutting down, one (I'm assuming outbound) pipe is extremely hot as if its passing boiling water through it and the other is quite cool.

It appears to be idling at around 44c which seems rather high for idling?

Any ideas?

Solution
try the fan in cpu 1 and the pump in cpu 2 also if you could connect the pump to a sys fan header for a constant 12 volts supply on her .

I believe so, i removed the CPU block and both the cooling block and CPU header have an even distribution of thermal compound and the it fixes securely back on.

I've put the pump connection onto CPU_FAN1 and the fan which cools the radiator onto CPU_FAN2. I've disabled min/max temp speeds in the BIOS for CPU_FAN1 to ensure the pump is at a constant and MSI Control Center shows it running at 4600-4650 RPM consistently.

I've not had this issue before and i ran a 2500k on a h60 and never encountered these issues - Im wondering if this water cooler might be duff (Which is annoying as i've thrown the box away). I can tell that the temps are running high as my PC starts to ramp up the RPM on radiator fan.

Tempted to go out a buy a 212 Evo to see if that resolved the issue - though i'd rather troubleshoot this one!
