i5-4690 vs i5-4670K

Solution
In gaming, performance would be almost identical. If you overclock the 4670k, it will be better, but not THAT much better. You will find yourself spending at LEAST $100 extra to overclock, and it's just not worth it. That $100 could go towards a better video card that would make a bigger impact in gaming than overclocking ever will. I think the 4570 or 4590 are the sweet spot of performance/value.

They are the exact same chip, the 4670k is just unlocked and therefore overclockable. The 4690 reportedly uses a little less power, but it's just a spin on existing Haswell silicon and therefore virtually identical.

So for gaming, the i5-5670k would still be better even though it is older?
