Hi guys,

I've done some research and I've decided what parts I'm going to use to build my next rig. I was hoping you guys could tell me if I've gone wrong anywhere or if any of these parts could do with an upgrade.

My goal is to future proof it (hence the 850w power supply for future multi GPU support).

Case - NZXT PHANTOM 410 WHITE
MoBo - ASUS Z97-A (ATX, supports SLI/XFire)
CPU - Intel® Core™ i7-4770k (3.5 GHz) (With tripe copper heatpipe cooler)
RAM - 8GB HYPER-X BEAST 2133MHz
GPU - 3GB GeForce GTX 780 Ti
PSU - Corsair 850w RM Series (Modular, 80 plus Gold)

That's what I had in mind, I'm useless when it comes to motherboards though (think I may have gone wrong there)

Thanks for any help guys!

Change the PSU. The RM units are not great as they use cheap low quality capacitors. An XFX 750w would be more than enough power, and better quality.

Unless you plan to get another GPU within a year, get a PSU appropriately sized for a single card.

Awesome thank you! Never occurred to me that the PSU would be the weak link. You see "80 Plus Gold" and you think it will be a good shout.

I was possibly looking at another monitor, currently sitting at a 37 inch monitor at 720p, I was going to use this for desktop apps and buy a 1080p monitor for gaming, I'm sure a single 780 Ti could handle it but I'm somewhat a 60FPS junkie.

I would class this as a tv as almost none are actually capable of displaying 1080p without lag or pixelation. I would definitely look at a proper monitor, my own 24" Benq displays 1920 x 1080 very well and you will benefit from getting more on the screen at once.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I've also wondered, I'll be using a single stick of RAM but would I be better using 2 x 4GB sticks instead, taking into account dual-channel and what not?

Yes, dual channel memory performs slightly faster than a single stick.
