first time builder and trying to figure out how to hook up multiple fans. i have 2 360mm rads on a push pull config (12 fans) and 1 240mm rad with just 2 fans. my question is should i just buy fan controllers to hook all of these up? im pretty sure i cant hook them up to the motherboard. thank you for any feedback.

Solution
that's alot of fans... lol. i've never seen one that controlls that many fans.
I'd say you'll need two of the 5.25in bay fan controllers... i assume they're all 3 pin?

I have one of these at it works great.

you'd need two of those... that would handle your 12 fans... then anything else you can plug into the few motherboard 3 pin fan headers. Of course they make touch screen ones as well that aren't much more money if you want two lcd panels on the front of your case... personally I avoid all LED lights and anything like that, i like flat black with no lights.

there are splitters you can use, 2 into 1 and such.

I like having the easy sliders on teh front... put...

Yeah you should just buy a bunch of fan splitters or controllers.
Here's a bunch of fan stuff: http://www.xoxide.com/fanaccessories.html

Did you buy everything yet ?

Phanteks cases ($229/139/$79) come with a Fan PCB that takes a PWM signal and uses them for speed control on up to 11 three-pin variable vltage fans. You can dasit chain them for up to 21. It's supposed to be available as an accessory bu the end of this month.

Swiftech also has one

Other non PWM ones available from ModMyToys

The Phanteks on also works off the CHA headers on the MoBo rec'ing the variable voltage signal from the MoBo and passing it on to the 3 pin fans. I'm using 3 of the Phanteks PCBs:

CHA_1 => Phanteks PCB-1 => (5) 1200 rpm chassis fans
CHA_2 => Phanteks PCB-2 => (6) 1200 rpm fans on XT45-420 rad
CHA_3 => Phanteks PCB-3 => (5) 1200 rpm fans on UT60-280 rad

Works great....fans (Phanteks SP-140s) range from 325 rpm to 850 rpm and are dead silent....each has its own separate fan curve via Asus FanXpert2
