Why can't I install Windows 8.1 on my ssd?

So I have a 3TB WD-Black HDD currently running Windows 8.1 but want to install it on my 500GB Samsung EVO SSD and I keep getting a 0x80300024 error that won't let me proceed.

Initially I was able to install Windows 8.1 on my SSD, then I cloned my HDD drive files to my SSD (which I'm guessing overrode the Windows files as well) but when I formatted my HDD so I can use all 3TBs of it instead of the 2TB limit I'm currently stuck at, everything went bad.

So I restored both drives and used image recovery and the files were back on both drives and it booted perfectly. From my HDD. Now I couldn't even boot Windows from the SSD so I formatted it and went to install Windows onto it once again and am currently stuck where I am.

I read up a bit on some BIOS setups but I'm not entirely sure what my problem is. I'd appreciate any help or insight into this matter. Thanks.

Enter Setup (BIOS) and restore system defaults; (Might be F9 depending on your BIOS)
Disconnect your HDD. Boot from your Installation Media, and at the 'Where do you want to install Windows ' Screen, choose 'Drive Options (Advanced) Select each partition in turn and delete until you have only Unallocated Space. Proceed to install without formatting or creating any partitions. This ensures the 350Mb System reserved partition is created in the right place, and your installation should be fine thereafter...

Your problem is your trying to install TWO Booting OSES on the same computer (as how Windows / BIOS sees it) on two different drives.
Sadly the Easiest steps (and what everyone else does that adds a SSD) of using Windows Easy Transfer to backup your data to ext drive, get out your disks, wipe the HDD and make sure the SSD is wiped, reinstall Windows and software, then WET back your data is now NO LONGER POSSIBLE UNDER WINDOWS 8.1 forward (OMFG!) http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/security/windows-easy-transfer-win-81/882d4258-046d-4e39-9da3-efe7c4bb7cdd

So the process NOW is
Have all disks ready, create a DBAN disk to wipe the HDD and SDD to ensure they are set as just blank disks, in Windows 8.1 make sure your logged into your SkyDrive, set all the folders you wish to keep set to be backed up to SkyDrive, get out Credit Card to buy more SkyDrive space, then proceed with wiping the drives once Skydrive is synched. Install Win8.1 (don't forget to do Win8.1 Update or you won't receive any patches), after you 'login' Skydrive will automatically pull down your data, install all other apps. Supposedly done.

Let me know if this does work "according to MS's Plan" (and people wonder why so many stuck to XP so long, I love my 7 and looks like I will be the new 'XP' hold out according to the 'leak' new Win9 layout plan of MONTHLY subscription to have a OS on my PC!!! HELL NO!).

Ok, so I'm trying to do it but when I enter the BIOS, I can't find where I can restore system defaults.
And when you say disconnect the HDD, do I have to physically disconnect the cables or is there a way I do that in the BIOS as well?
As for the deleting partitions part, what about the 350MB partition that is already there? I heard deleting this can cause some pretty bad problems. Or is that something that is taken care of when I restore the system settings?
Thanks. I'm just trying to ask all the questions I can now just in case.

You need to install to Unallocated Space so Setup can create the System Reserved Partition in the right place. i.e. delete all partitions 1st. Physically disconnecting ensures no interference with the installation from anything hidden on the HDD. Probably unnecessary, but the installation is important!
Don't worry about BIOS defaults, as long as SATA mode is set to AHCI and you're able to boot from your Installation Media all should be well...

the video hepls but what do i do to my ssd to make it take a windows load? the same thing he did or do i have to convert it to something like mbr or gpt?

As long as you have no Partitions on your SSD all will be well. i.e. install to Unallocated Space. Setup will format the drive for you.
