First computer build, need help

Hey, I am looking to build my first custom computer, this will mostly be used for gaming, web browsing and movies and I have selected the parts that I want and would like to know if all of the parts that i have chosen are compatible with each other. You can also leave your recommendations if you think there are better options for a similar price.

Case: NZXT h440 mid tower case
Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45
CPU: Intel Core i54670k
CPU cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO
Graphics card: MSI GeForce GTX 770 2gb
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO Series 120GB
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro CMY8GX3M2B2133C9R 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3
Hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Monitor: Samsung S24D590P
External dvd drive: Silverstone TS06 External USB Slim Optical Enclosure

Everything looks great! Your budget it 1700 AUD ?
Why EXTERNAL dvd drive ? Was it on purpose ?

Did you also check the new Mobo ? the Z97 that just came out recently ? It might also be an option to consider if you intend to upgrade soon (not that you'll need in the near future)

Thanks for the response. Yeah 1700 is my budget but i could go 100 extra if i needed to, I chose the external drive because the case does not come with the option to have an internal one, do i need a dvd drive to install windows 8? I will have a look at the Z97 now, thanks again.
