Overclocking can help, and some games will utilise it better than others, but don't expect a huge difference. The best I've noticed is a 5 FPS increase in Far Cry 3, which considering that it was already at 50 FPS, is a pretty meaningless improvement.

Overclocking is mainly a hobby for the enthusiast.
