The difference between the 4790 and the 4790k will be clock speed and the fact that the 4790k will be unlocked. Most Intel chips max out at aroun 4.5GHz, so if I were you I would just buy an i7 4770k and overclock that instead.

Don't wait for the 4790k, it'll be like $30 more expensive and not really worth that much more, you could get the same performance with an overclocked 4770k.
