Which will be better in terms of raw performance?
Power is no problem, and the sound in my mind is like a purr of a sports car XD
Temps tho may be a problem, looking to invest in liquid cooling soon after.

Like Lowriderflow said, there are tons of benchmarks and 290x CF vs 780 SLI reviews. get on youtube as well, people will post side by side videos of game play so you can see in game performance/FPS.

If you want my opinion I would go with one 780 ti now. It will have tons of power for you right now unless you are running really high resolutions, then when the prices start to drop get a second 780 ti. I recently did the who debate like you, I was also looking at the 780 ti kingpin. Long story short, unless you plan of putting the kingpin under water and doing some major over clocking (not just using a program), then save the $100 and just get a 780 ti dual classified.

the 290x crossfire or 780 sli will absolutely slaughter a single 780ti, that's not up for debate.

as far as 290x or 780 dual card setups.... heat is a serious problem. if oyu have a full tower with some big fans right on the GPUs, you'll be fine. If you have a mid-tower, i'd stick with 780s. Last thing you want is powerhouse cards scaling back b/c thermal issues.

Also, the nvidia SLI drivers traditionally are much better and less troublesome.

There's 500 reviews out there for 780SLI vs 290/290x Crossfire. start reading.... just make sure you pick some relatively new ones so it's a fair fight. The results will be skewed to nvidia if you read articles from way back in the fall before mantle
