Greetings all!

I've been experiencing some problems with my networking in general and ill try to explain it as best as I can.

Problem #1:

Here is a first one. Lets say i'm interested in how fast my connection is at the moment. I go open speedtest.net , start the test to the nearest server, and when it comes to the upload portion, its stuck at:

I have to note that at the same time, my internet connection just bails on me. I run the troubleshooter and it gives me this back:

After this, everything is back to normal Sometimes it does it again after repeating the test.

Any idea what happens / how to prevent this in the future?

Problem #2:

While running speed test, my speed reaches numbers up to .78mbps. (Screenshoted a bit before)

Now. Its all fine and dandy when its up there but then for no reason at all, upload gives up and just drops to around .48mpbs.

I did the speedtest while connected directly to my modem, same result. Asked ISP about it, they say they get normal speeds on their end. Tried putting router & modem settings to default and tried again, same.

Any ideas?

Thanks for reading this, later!

As suggested power cycle all of your network equipment. I would also check the settings on your computer, make sure it's set to DHCP unless you have a reason for a static IP. I'm guessing that your subnet or gateway are set incorrectly. Looks like a connection or setup problem. Are you having any other internet issues? It may also help to know how your computer is connected to your internet.

I've done 30-30-30 resets of router / modem.

Speed should be 4mbps / 512kbps but I've had 800 kbps upload for a while now.

I'll check the settings bit later just to be sure yea. As far as i know i got gateway and all that set to automatic. I never have any internet issues nope, the network just seems to disconnect with speedtest.

I believe its like this: ISP > Switch (a really small box with the same input / output)> Modem > Router > PC.

Is there by chance any static on your phone? Try replacing the DSL filter and see if there is any improvement, also try another phone jack in the house and see if there is any improvement there. If you really want a good test there might me a telco box outside your house with a phone jack in there that jack is what feeds your house, unplug the cord and plug the dsl modem with the dsl filter directly into the box and if you still are getting bad speed then I would have a tech come out to test the line, but is you receive good speeds there might be something interfering with the lines inside your house.

I will check these things on monday.

In the mean time, i might have solved problem number one. I manually entered default gateway, subnet mask and such (under IPv4 adapter settings), i followed a guide on my ISP's website. I did multiple speed tests in succession without getting disconnected due to "default gateway not available".
I'll keep an eye on this for a day to see if it comes back.
