I am building my first pc build and have done lots of research on it, but I do not understand for the life of me the raid stuff. Is this something I will need or should adjust or mess with. I am not by any means super tech savvy but I am really mechanical and pick things up quickly once I understand the reasons for it and dos and donuts. But I just don't get it. I guess I am looking for somebody to break it down for me and tell me if I need to even worry about it.

I7 4770k
Nh-d14
GeForce gtx780 oc
Gigabyte ga-z87-oc
G skill trident 2x8 gb
Hitachi 3tb hdd
128gb pro evo ssd. For so
256gb pro evo ssd. For games/programs
Corsair 200r
Windows 7

Don't worry about it, I wouldn't RAID any of those storage devices you have, set (or leave) your BIOS to AHCI.

RAID 0: Best used with 2+ disks of the same size, it will double the throughput, however if a hard drive dies or gets bad sectors you will lose all your data, if the two disks are difference sizes will it limit the larger disk the to size of the smaller one)
RAID 1: 2 Disks of the same size (or will limit the larger disk to the size of the smaller disk, and the data will be redundant between them, this is NOT a backup, but insurance against a hard drive failure, as you would still have all your data.
RAID 5: 3+ disks, some of the benefits of RAID 0 and RAID 1, faster speeds, and redundancy, however a 3 disk RAID 5 would be the same size as a 2 disk RAID 1, as in RAID 5 one disk is used for parity (mostly used in enterprise).
