hello everyone ,

My current setup is the following:
MOBO:Asus p5q-e
CPU: core 2 duo E8500 OCed at 3,9
GPU:Radeon HD formula 5750
RAM:4x1GB ddr2 800mhz
SSD:Samsung 830 128gb
HDD: 2 7200rpm 300gb each
PSU:coolermaster rs 500watt

The main issue is that i am having alot of lag while playing wow on high- ultra settings but on good everythinkg is smooth same goes for diablo 3.
Now in the next 2 month i will be upgrading to an i7 with 16gb ram ,new psu etc etc but for now i want to buy a new gpu and i was thinking of getting the amd r9 270x should i go for it or wait and get a card with the rest of my new built? am i going to see any difference with just a new gpu? I am aware that my mobo has a pci express 2.0 and not a 3.0 so what are your thoughts?

The PCI slot will not cause any performance issues. Go ahead and do the 270X.

270x will definitely give u alot of increase in performance but ur psu is not a good one, it can run 270x but i think its better to wait 2 months than risk ur new card with this psu.

If you want to upgrade the graphics why not look for a used HD7850 or GTX650Ti class of card from E-bay? It's not something I'd normally suggest but for a quick, short term boost it'll be cheaper than going new.
If you're going for an Nvidia card for the new build I suggest you get an Nvidia temporary card, that way you'll have the option of using it for PhysX in the new system.

Well my current PSU is the only reason i am still thinking of getting the new card since i do have CPU OC'ed it not that wise and i am not in the mood of risking the whole build.

U do have a nice suggetion here but i am looking for a new temporary one to use with my new build as well.
As for Nvidia i do have some cards on my mind like the gtx 760.
Since my fears of my psu not being able to handle a new GPU are being confirmed i think i will just wait another 2 months and get a card with my new build so i might get a better one since prices will drop.

^ Or you could just do that. ;)
BTW the GTX 750 (non Ti) will run effortlessly off the current PSU, needs no external power leads (under 75 Watts max draw) and should be compact enough to slip into the new build as a PhysX card...Just a thought.
