Does the chipset effect the performance of a AMD CPU?

Specifically I have a Phenom II X4 945 Denab non BE CPU.
Does the various chipsets effect the performance of that CPU?

Such as the 760G 970 990FX chipsets.

I understand going to a 9+ chipset would give SATA 6G as well as other features however will that change how the CPU performs?

Solution
For the 990FX boards Asrock is super solid , I like them and ASUS , but for performance and features the KILLER is the best in that price range , has a great power phase and thermal design.
No, as long as the motherboard supports the CPU (this can be checked from the website of the manufacturer), there will be no difference in performance at stock speeds. If you want to OC though, get a 990FX motherboard; Few 760G or 970 boards are good for overclocking.

That seems like a very nice MB you posted.

How does AsRock compare to ASUS or Gigsbyte as far as quality?

I have been burned in the past by Biostar and ECS but never been disappointed by either ASUS or Gigabyte. If AsRock is as good I might just try them.
