Best free antivirus?

I currently use microsoft security essentials but I was told it's not that great- any opinions on that/what might be better if this is true?

Windows 7 64 bit here, thanks guys

I use AVG or Avast; I've not been infected while using either (although I am careful).

Hi,

For my part, if you have a descent computer, get avast free. But MSE is a comparable antivirus.

I personally use Avast, on the other hand I've heard that Microsoft security essentials is good, as long as you don't do any thing silly on the web, then any well known antivirus will be fine

I would personally recommend Avast, but I advise you to stay away from MSE. My PC has gotten infected while using it and it was also unable to remove the infection; It's useless IMO.

Interesting. Looks like I'll be ditching AVG for Avast! for now.
