I have an Dell Vostro 400 and am trying to replace the existing HD with a SSD, below are the steps I have taken so far.

1. Mirrored the existing HD to the new Samsung SSD
2. Removed the old drive from the computer and replaced it with the new mirrored SSD

At this point everything is working fine but my concern is when running Samsung Magician Software it shows everything is ok except that SATA is not set to AHCI so I try the following.

1. Went to the Registry and set msahci/Start to 0
2. Did a reboot and changed the BIOS SATA to Raid (the only two options available are IDE and RAID
3. Tryed to reboot but when Windows 7 begins to start it stops and trys to restart windows over and over in a continuous loop.

If I change back to IDE in the BIOS it starts window normally.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Changing both,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci

AND

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorV

resolved the issue with booting windows.

Windows loads fine and everything seems to be working ok. SATA is set to RAID now in the BIOS.

Samsung Magician Software unfortunately is still showing that AHCI is disabled and that it is unable to detect SATA interface details.
