Hi there,

I own a R9 280X Toxic and have a Cooler Master HAF-X case, now my ~200MM side-panel fan is placed directly above my graphics card. My question is if I should set it to exhaust or inhale, as in suck the hot air of the card where it does, or blow in it, while the exhaust of my card is to it's side (I believe, it's where the heat came from).

So, should my side-panel fan suck the air out of my card's exhaust, or blow against it?

Solution

The heat rises, so it should be traveling out the top or rear. It's more about the flow of air in the case rather than a single components airflow.

If you really wanted to be certain that you have the best airflow, you could add a fan on the bottom of the case pushing air up, which would also function as an additional intake (unless it's sitting on carpet, then it would just give better internal airflow.)

Thanks! But wouldn't that mean that my card's exhaust airflow would be pushed inside again?

Awesome, thanks :)
I'll try and see if there's any noticable difference when I change the fan back to intake
