How important is latency?

Hello all,

In the market for 2x4gb RAM for a gaming build I've been working on for a while. I'm hoping for the computer to be able to play nearly all genres of games (FPS, RPG, MMORPG to highlight a few) as my tastes seem to change constantly, and am wondering how important it is for the CL of my RAM to be low? By looking online, I've found a few different options and have calculated their latencies into nanoseconds (formula: CL/clock speed*2000) and the numbers are as follows:

A. CL: 9; Speed: 1866MHz; Latency (ns): 9.646; Price: $74.99
B. CL: 9; Speed: 2133MHz; Latency (ns): 8.439; Price: $82.99
C. CL: 10;Speed: 2400MHz; Latency (ns): 8.333; Price: $84.99
D. CL: 11; Speed: 2666MHz; Latency (ns): 8.252; Price: $89.99

Would I be okay with going with option A for $74.99, or should I upgrade up to B, C, or even D to have that lower latency? Would it be worth the possible extra $15?

  1. cl is very important. not all cpu/mobo are able to run over 2133mhz though! what specs do you have?

    with (k) unlocked cpu you can ran all. i would go with B option. you wont even have to o/c your cpu to run it!
