hellooooo tech experts! ....so the title pretty much says it all...which one will give me higher frames: a single gtx 780? (em considering the msi twin frozr) or a gtx 770 (Asus directcu ii) paired with a gtx 750ti (again the msi version or the gigabyte windforce) as a dedicated physx card...the gtx 780 does cost pretty much the same as gtx 770 + gtx750ti...so its all bout frames really...i get that ill hav to consider future upgrade potential as well since my mobo (msi gaming 5) can only do 2 way sli....just out of interest...how much gpu power can an i5 4670k handle? (i've heard it can handle upto 3 gtx 780s in sli)

...any help is appreciated :)

just the 780 the additional physx isnt worth it. the 780 will be better. really you only do that if you hapen to have a card lying around. and the 4670k can easily handle anything you will throw in a 1150 MOBO

thnx for the quick reply...hmm k the 780 it is then!....but i've read somewhere that you can add a dedicated physx card (like a 750ti) and pair it with an AMD gpu..!?? (like a R9 290)...if thts possible then honestly i would think thats alot better than getting a single gtx 780 since the r9 290 is significantly cheaper than the gtx 780...n just to confirm the i5 4670k CAN handle about 3 780s in sli...thnx :)

Well that's a more complicated subject. There is a hack that will allow you to do that. but its a pain and you would just be better off going nvidia IMO. its one of those thing if you have to ask about it you probably just shouldn't bother with it. there are thread about it on the forum already so I'm not going to go into detail about it. Also keep in mind if you are going to run more than 3 gpus you are most likely going to have to upgrade to a 2011 socket. If you are just gaming though there is no reason you will need that many. if you are Building a new pc you can give us your budget and what you are using it for. Then we can put together some builds for you based on your needs and budget.

Your cost/benefit logic is messed up there. The cost of a 290 + 750 Ti is going to be greater than the cost of a single GTX 780.... and won't do PhysX near as well. So the logical thing is to just do it the right way from the start and get the GTX 780, which in this case will offer more value, at least when playing PhysX games.

Well actually a sapphire tri x r9 290 is only £280...plus £100 for an asus directcu ii gtx 750ti...thts £380...only £10 more than an msi twin frozr gtx 780...but yea I get the point...a single gtx 780 will do the job better than anything...thnx for the help! :)  ...any idea when exactly is the gtx 8xx series coming out? n when the aftermarket versions myt come out? is it worth waiting for a gtx 880 rather than getting the 780?
