Question about a radiator mount

More than a question it's really just about hearing your opinion in the matter.

I'm finishing a build based off on a mini tower case I really liked, I wanted to fit a liquid cooler there even if it was close to impossible. After a long search for closed loops (full knowing a custom setup would never fit) I found a radiator that was slim enough but the fan coupled with the radiator made things way too tight. So I searched for a thin fan with the same dimensions and I found the perfect 2000rpm fan. Things are now great, still tight but at least decent. My problem is the radiator uses a very specific set of screws that are custom made for its fan. I've looked everywhere and there's just no screws I can find that would hook radiator and fan together in an acceptable manner.

So what I ended up doing is getting plastic covered wiring, like the one that closes wonder bread bags. Got for of those wires and looped it through the screw holes and twisted until it was very tight and then I cut off the slack. The end result was surprisingly tight and not horrible looking. Now all I did was screw the fan to the side vent so the final config is. Side panel > screwed fan > plastic covered wiring radiator. Now after so many twists the plastic covering the wire fell off and all you can see is the metal wire itself but I don't care about that

It works fine and it doesn't feel like it's ever going to come off.

So I just wanted to hear your opinion on this. Is there any scientific secret destructive reason why this would be a bad idea? All I can think off is pieces of plastic falling inside the case but I've cleaned everything up nicely. Sure the case can get hot but not hot enough to melt the plastic or wire (or else every cable inside the case would melt)

Am I ok with this?

I'll upload a picture later when I'm on a computer.

Should be fine.

Fitting Radiators with Fans in a "to small" case is always fun to deal with. To fit my 280mm rad i had to cut out some of the metal of the top of the case. It looks really bad but with the fans on top of it and the rad hanging on the bottom of the metal you can't see it. Modding is fun.

AHHHH Modding! If it is working go for it! I use zip ties in a pinch like that, they cinch up nice and tight and give a clean look as well. As for the perfect scenario for you, maybe you can order the screws from the manufacture or drill out the fan holes, but I say stick with what you have or get some black zip ties and roll with it!
Good fix in a pinch!

Thanks for the answers guys, I already tried looking for screws in several stores, the problem is the holes of the fan Im using are too different a size compared to the radiator, also the radiator holes are anything but generic using special coolermaster screws.

I'm actually fine with what I ended up doing, since there is no window in the case I would never even see the wiring. I just wanted to know if there is an actual issue by doing this?
