I have recently got a computer built and it has -
ASUS Maximus Hero VI motherboard with 4770k. I am using one X40 kraken for the CPU and one x40 Kraken for the GPU. When booting into the BIOS it was already set to ignore the CPU fan, as it does not detect the fan presence. The fans are actually working and the pump also seems fine, but no fans are being detected through the BIOS. I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest version (1408) but this did not seem to work. It also does not boot as it says no CPU fan is detected unless I change the settings back to ignore.
Just wondering if this is normal for the BIOS on this motherboard to not detect CPU fan if I am using the X40 as a CPU cooler? I have confirmed it is hooked into the correct CPU_FAN input on the motherboard and not the CPU_OPT. I can control the fan with the Kraken Utility but it does not actually read the fan speeds, nor does Speedfan pick up any of the fans. Appreciate any advice on if this is indicative that my motherboard does indeed have a hardware failure.
