Computer stopped Booting from SSD

I woke up this morning to discover that my computer decided to stop booting from my SSD, The BIOS stopped detecting the SSD. After a bit of poking, I've discovered that if I plug in a specific HD, the BIOS stops detecting the SSD and if I have that HD plugged in, the detection of the drives at startup takes longer than usual, sometimes the BIOS detects the SSD but it isn't under boot options. I can't figure out why it won't boot with that drive, it was working fine last night. Did that drive go bad for no reason or is there a a hidden setting somewhere?

My motherboard is an ASUS P7P55D and I'm using Win7.

It could be that the hard drive is going bad. It could be that you have a bad cable. Believe it or not SATA cables go bad. If you flex them just a little too much the get flaky. It is possible that it is a problem in the motherboard. I have seen chipsets get semi-functional after time. So do the process of elimination procedure. Good Luck.

Thanks for the posts guys. I've swapped around cables, swapped SATA ports but none of that worked. Finally I disconnected the power to the HD then reconnected. BIOS now does not detect the SSD but shows up under boot options and boots in Win7. The thing is my user profile is now missing or rather is not connected correctly (I changed the user profile location following one of the stickied guides), is there a way to connect the user profiles back or move the profile back to the default location?

Okay. So I decided to reformat and do a clean install of Win7. Worked fine for a while but then stopped. BIOS now detects my SSD 100% of the time but does not appear in boot options. I'll try updating the BIOS if possible.

So I updated my BIOS which was about five years out of date. SSD now gets detected and shows up in boot menu. I still have no idea why I was suddenly unable to boot from my SSD. Gives BOOTMGR is missing but that's probably because I borked a Windows Update.
