ah... i'll answer your question in parts. take from it what you will
You should get the 8350/8320 IF
-You WILL overclock
-Your monitor is 1080p and 60hz
-You don't plan more then 2 card xfire or SLi
-Getting the FX chip will allow you to spend more $$ on a BETTER graphics card
-You plan to spend less then $800 on the whole build
You Should get the i5 IF
-You plan to spend over $1000 on the whole build
-Your monitor (regardless the resolution) has a 120hz refresh rate
-You don't plan to overclock EVER
-You plan on more then 2 gpus in xfire/SLi
-Heat/Noise/power efficiency are VERY SUPER IMPORTANT to you
-You want a small form factor motherboard like ITX or mATX
*note: several of these points are not deal breakers. For example, if you plan to overclock, AND need a small form factor, the i5 will be for you. Frankly, you should measure your needs based on what fits your planned uses better.
If you are seriously concerned about the future, sure, go ahead and get the FX. The 8 cores are all pretty slow cores, and right now, the i5 will blow it away in nearly every instance.
My view is that a quad core will still be good for years, and for all desktop tasks (besides video editing and HEAVY mutlitasking) and most all games now at least, the i5 is better. All this will happen while the i5 will save you probably $20 a year in electricity, and add another $10 a year if you will overclock the 8350.
Honestly, the best thing out there right now for your money is the Xeon E3-1230v3. It only costs $30 more than the i5-4670K, while it gives you essentially a slightly underclocked i7-4770 with it's 8-thread glory. This will blow away the FX-8350 and will work just like an i7 for games without blowing the bank too much more.
