This problem happened when my mom switched off the plug of the charger when the laptop was on(i removed the battery). Once i switched back on the laptop it stated something about bios reboot then boom everything takes like 3-4 minutes slower than before. Any ideas? i ran chkdsk and system restore but nothing works.

Could be that something was updating at the time and never got to finish. Have you tried running in safe mode to see how it performs?

Well I'm at work atm so can't help much now. If you are tired of researching, before you give up on the hard drive, back everything up, reformat and try a reinstall of windows and see if that helps.

If you're using Windows 7 you should try the recovery option by restarting your machine and hit F8 then select the start up repair option. here's a link about start up repair. It automatically fixes your computer.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/startup-repa...

If updates failed that wouldn't slow your pc. And I would NOT update your bios. That's a very tricky thing and it could cause more problems.

When your mom shut off the pc what happened was it powered down without logging off and shutting down properly. That's not a major thing but it should be fixed.

Also in the f8 choices is the option to set the pc back to the last good configuration - just follow instructions if the other one doesn't work.
