SSD acting weird: fluctuating free space left

I'm using a Plextor M5S running Windows 7 64 bit.

Some days it says free space left is about 5Gb, some days it says about 15Gb. The amount of data I have on it has been about the same for the past few weeks, but the reported free space left keeps fluctuating.

Any ideas?

how often do you restart? I run disk cleanup once in a while because temporary files and windows update files can eat up several GB and windows takes it's time deleting them, figure it's worth a look.

@Spectre694 Yeah, it's happened a few times in the past week or two.

@dacquesta1 I shut down my system every night when I head to bed. I use CCleaner every once a while.

How many GB of RAM do you have and what size do you have your pagefile set to? If it is set to system managed size that could account for the space consumption if a program is having a memory leak dumping over into the pagefile. Do you download large torrent files? The windows disk cache service will chew up RAM when downloading large torrent files and could spill over into the pagefile as well.

@dacquesta1

Sorry for the slow reply, I've been at work.

I have 16Gb of ram so that shouldn't be a problem.

I'm not familiar with pagefile (never tinkered with it) but it's set to "System managed size" right now with 4561Mb currently allocated.

Edit: I don't download very large torrent files. Largest ones are usually less than 8Gb.
