Front audio panel not working

Everything else works except the 2 front audio jacks (and the card reader, but there's no connection for that). There's only one way to plug it in so that's not the issue.

Edit: It's an issue with an AC'97 and HD Audio compatibility.

the header on the motherboard is usually "FP_AUDIO" and the wire from the case is usually labelled something similar. If you have two connectors together then it's the "HD_AUDIO" one you would use. Check in the motherboard BIOS that Front Panel Audio is enabled, though it usually is by default.
