hi guys i recently built my first pc and im real happy with it,the information and advise i seek is that im unsure of what my i7 4770k processors temperatures are meant to be,atm mine when idle are 25-29c when under full load using prime95 for say 30mins-1hr they hit around 79-81c,this is using a stock fan using mx-4 thermal compound applied using the pea method

1.are these good temps for what i have
2.and do i need to upgrade my cpu cooler,i was looking at the cooler master seidon 120m liquid loop cooler, but again very unsure,as i have my build inside a nzxt 210 source case (elite black)

i think you're fine if you're not overclocking. i wouldn't bother with it.

now if you want to spend $50 for the 120m b/c it looks cool and its generally fun to tell people your computer is liquid cooled, then by all means!

then you'll have to overclock ;0

throw on the stock exhaust fan to the 120m setup for push/pull... it will include the hardware to do that.

you're not quite in the danger zone yet, but that is pretty warm.

have you setup fan profiles via bios or motherboard software?

if you tell the CPU fan to spin faster at an earlier temp, you can alleviate some of the issue.

a 120m will definitely help. If you mount it on the rear as an intake, it will always be pulling in fresh air into the radiator. Just make sure you have top fan as exhaust so the hot hair coming out of the radiator is blown out the top immediately.

also make sure you have a side fan installed as intake to get fresh air to your GPU.

that's a non-traditional setup in a way, but that's what I've found works great when using a 120mm rad in cases with side/top fans.

everything is getting fresh air all the time

hello your idle temp are fine, and consider that prime95 will get chips run hotter because it a stress test the 80c sounds good also.I dont think while gaming you will go above 60-70c maybe less, try check your temps during gaming,

not really... it depends on the game if it's GPU intensive or CPU intensive.

also depends on your case, airflow, and GPU setup.

if you have two volcano-hot 580's in your case, then its going to heat up the case air more and more as you game, meaning the cpu heatsink is trying to cool it with hot air now.

doesnt sound like the case for you, you would proly see it staying in the 45-60c range and that's totally fine

so i should go with the 120m liquid cooler to help my temps more since i am using the intel stock fan atm, plus i have alotta air flow space in my case and im using just the 2 fans that came with the case that seem to be real quiet but when i hover my hand near them they are quite cold lol
