Hi,
I have recently built a new pc with corsair 600w power supply, Asus z87-K motherboard, intel 4770K chip and put it in a new corsair 550D case with my old soundlblaster xfi fatality and nvidia 660GTX gpu. Its running windows 7 ultimate with 8 gigs of corsair vengeance pro ram.
My problem is i can hear the motherboard working through my studio monitor speakers, every time i move my mouse, open a folder and god forbid i open a game.
There is a constant back ground noise and it gets louder with various other pitches when i start using programs.
I have tried uninstalling the onboard realtek drivers, updating the creative ones. Removing my soundcard and reinstalling the onboard ones. Using the front headphone jack instead of the cases rear connector. Using the monitors speakers instead of my professional ones and finally today i removed everything from the case and reinstalled it very carefully even removing one of the existing motherboard riser things and replacing it because it looked different to the rest. All to no avail as the sound is still there and it is driving me mad.
I did go to the asus product place where i registered for warranty and searched there but couldnt find any info, i started a tech help post but they wanted far too much info and it put me off.
Please any help would be appreciated as i am at my wits end.

sounds like an earthing problem. might help to check that all connectors have no bare wires touching the case. if you have those little red/brown washer things then use them on the screws that fasten the motherboard to the case.

Neither the motherboard nor case came with any washers.
The additional unused power supply cables dont have anything other than the plastic ends touching the case and i cannot see any bare wires anywhere in the case.
While trying to find a solution online a couple of posts suggest that certain types of motherboard use ac power and need the washers and others use dc power and dont need them, this is out of my knowledge zone and confuses me. I would have thought asus would have put this info in the instruction manual along with a bag of washers if needed?

Cheers for the reply Anton, Ive actually read it tho.

This solve below doesnt help me at all.
"Hello, I had the exact same problem , looked for help nothing .
I am no computer expert but what solved my issue was that the sound on my speakers was at the max while the sound setting on my PC relatively low which I guess increased the S/N ratio that my speaker amplifier was seeing ... so i turned my PC sound to max and my speaker to the min level that gave me enough sound and voila ! no buzz !!!
Hope it helps you as well."

And the powered usb solve doesnt help either as my powered speakers both use their own socket on a surge protected extension cable that has been tested.
Unless the fix is to not use any of the onboard usb slots?? In which case the motherboard should not be on sale as it is useless!

Thanks for the replies.
I dont have a powered usb hub and im not going to buy one just to test, as i have seen this is quite a common problem with asus boards.
Im going to accept it as the solution and send the board back.
Im going to research other boards and companies now.
Thanks again o/

Well the company i bought the motherboard off sent me a replacement of the same kind.
And i still have the issue. I am going to take the motherboard out and check all the little riser screw things the motherboard sits on, making sure that they have bare metal contact with the case and the motherboard as the case and these screws have some kind of powdercoating.
Other than that i am at a loss.
