I want to run 120hz and all three monitors in bf4. I have two dvi-d cables hooked on one of the two r9 290x cards and one dvi-d cable hooked onto the other card. When I use eyefinity feature to set all three monitors as one monitor I only have an option to pick two of the three monitors. The two I have to choose from are the two connected to the same card and the 3rd monitor connected to the 2nd card is grayed out.

If I goto use crossfire I have a choice for picking one of the three monitors.

Do I have to connect all three monitors to one card? using two div-d and one display port. dvi-d can handle 120hz but I don't think a display port can handle anything over 60hz. I have continued to read and maybe the display port can handle the same resolution and 120hz the dvi-d port can handle. Can anyone confirm that for me.

My question is: How to set up the system correctly.

Thanks for giving it a go for me. But since I have display port output on the graphics card and display port input on the monitor I don't think an adapter would help. Nothing to adapt from and too. I just went to BestBuy and Radio Shack and neither sell display port cables. Just adapters, like from mini display port to...

I just came back from Circuit City and they said that using the 2 dvi-d ports on one card and one of the dvi-d ports on the second card will work. Ok, now I checked my cables, and yep I have confirmed that all three of my dvi-d cables are dual. Well I think Circuit City guy was wrong. Tomorrow I will drive back to Circuit City and return one of my dvi-d cables and get the display port cable. Hope this will work.

If any one has anything to say, I have open ears and mind. I have too much money invested for a big paper weight.

I have now used 2 dvi-d cables and one display port cable. Ok. I can now use eyefinity and make one big screen with the 3 monitors and I also can use crossfire. You would think "Yea!" right? Well when I load bf4 and play I get 3 duplicate screens. When I go to use the option of 3 screens in bf4 video options menu I do not have the option. It only shows one screen. Makes sense since my computer system is set up to only see one big combined screen from the 3 screens. But I am now busy searching for a fix for the 3 duplicate screens in bf4. I could really use some help here. Please, anyone?

when running crossfire you need to plug all eyefinity displays into the same card
so order a displayport online

i have three asus vg248qe 144hz monitors running 5996 x 1080 (for bezel correction) on crossfire powercolor PCS+ r9 290x's and i had the same question when setting up
the second card beefs up the first when crossfire is enabled and doesnt output it's own displays

just change the resolution, it only recognizes them as one display so you need to pick your native resolution (5760 x 1080)

I thought I would add this to this post. My end computer ended up being:
MSI X99S SLI PLUS mother board
i7 5930K cpu. Overclocked to 3.6 MHz.
16 gb 2400 MHz ram. Running at 2400 MHz.
Three Radeon R9290X graphics cards. Overclocked to 1135 on main core and 1350 on the memory.

This gets me FPS in BF4 the lowest, 80. On average it gives me 100 to 110. High, 150+. But my monitors are 120 Hz so the max FPS is 120 visually. I now have the FPS caped at 100. I might see it blink below 100 FPS some times.

I am about to sell on Ebay my old mother board: ASUS RAMPAGE 3 FORMULA, CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB RAM, AND I7950 CPU. As a single package. This combination with one Radeon R9290X gpu would give me over 100 FPS with one of my monitors with no problem.
