Hardware.
Asus m5a99x r2.0 evo mobo
Amd 8350
Corsair vengeance 8gb 1600
Ocz agility 3 120gb ssd
Western 1gb hdd
Corsair CXM 750W Modular 80 PLUS Bronze
Gigabyte amd r9 280x
Zalman z9 plus
Windows 8.1 x64

To start off I turned my pc on after doing some cable tidying as the day before I installed an AMD 8350 which was working fine then might I add, but I immediately heard sparks and smelt burning.

So I turned the PC off, smelt the parts and it was coming from the gpu (gigabyte r9 280x windforce.

All the fans were coming on as usual, I noticed that the VGA led was on all the time as well.

After testing everything it occurred to me the only thing that seemed at fault was the gpu which i purchased 2nd hand from Novatech eBay store. So i returned this for a refund and bought a brand new MSI Radeon R9 280x Twin Frozr.
Well today i plugged in the GPU and to my surprise no image!

I would like to add that when testing the components etc I did not get any mobo beeps indicating an error.

I'm thinking the problem might be either the MOBO or PSU but not completely sure.

Maybe the psu died and destroyed the gpu and mobo...

I've contacted ASUS for help with the mobo and i've actually just ordered another power supply.

Any opinions would be highly welcomed!

I have just installed a Corsair CXM 750W Modular 80 PLUS Bronze but I am still getting a VGA led light come on.
No image on screen using 2 different monitors and different cables.

I've also reset the cmos etc.

Im thinking the MOBO has also failed when the gpu got cooked by the psu.

Has anyone got any ideas?
