Hello, my laptop is pretty bad and I want to know the best settings or things to do in general that would maximize my performance but not look awful.

Windows 8.1
Intel Core i7-3632QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
8 GB RAM

Intel HD Graphics 4000
Approx Total Memory: 1792 MB

So yeah, is there anything I can do to have decent Skyrim performance? I'm pretty happy with 30-40 FPS actually, but more is welcomed if it doesn't make it look completely awful. Thanks for any help!

With integrated graphics it might be hard to get a decent experience. Best thing would be to drop the resolution to the lowest possible, while still being acceptable for you. From there, start dropping the settings until you find a middleground that is playable. It might not even be playable, since the CPU is going to have to do everything, and mobile CPU's are underclocked to lower heat and extend battery life.

Another thing to try is get a program like Razer game booster, or whatever it's called. There are a few out there.
