BIOS update ended my overclocking

My Specs:

Asus m5a97 LE r2.0 motherboard
AMD 1055T x6 @ 2.8ghz CPU
12 Gigabytes 1600MHZ DDR3 memory (not sure of timings or brand name)
ATI Radeon 7950

So, I am running on stock version of BIOS (1901). I am able to OC up to around 3.6 Ghz with no problems. Any higher and things start to get unstable and BSOD.

I get the bright idea to update my BIOS (2501)to maybe stabilize a bit more and squeeze a few hundred extra MHZ out of this old processor.

After BIOS update, I can OC and it boots to the "starting windows" screen, but as soon as it gets there it acts like its going into system restore (gives me a screen with a grey loading bar and message "windows is loading files") then restarts. It doesnt matter what frequency, if I OC a little or a lot, it wont boot into windows without being in default setting.

I tried to clear CMOS by taking out the battery, switching the jumper cap to the 2-3 position for 30 seconds while holding power after taking the power cord out of the PSU, but its still the new updated BIOS version that won't let me OC.

Any way I can revert back to my old BIOS version? Or even better, any way to prevent windows from going into system restore?

Download the old BIOS and flash it, just like you did this one....

Did you flash from a FAT32 filesystem? If not, reflash the BIOS with the same version you are trying to flash with and post back how things go.
