I've been looking through the endless sites of gaming headphones, studio quality headphones, microphones, and other various paraphernalia that goes along with it and I've been stumped as to what is the best choice! My one friend is an audiophile and says that I should go for something by audio-technica for my price range (I'm looking at a maximum of about 300 dollars), but me as a gamer wants to go for a gaming headset with all the neat bells and whistles, and the practical side of me wants to spring for a wireless headset!
The headset from audio-technica that I'm looking at is the ATH-M50s (probably the older version seen here ATH-M50 link) which will cost me about 150, maybe 140 if I shop around.
The wireless part of me says go for the Logitech G930s (even though they seem to have a lot of issues with wireless connectivity....) for 80 bucks or splurge for the Astro A50s which will put me out 300 bucks (the build quality on both of these is high end, if you've ever watched the abuse the Twitch.tv streamer PhantomL0rd administered to his G930s, you'd understand ).
The other issue with buying a studio grade headset means it usually doesn't come with a microphone, because usually microphones on a headset have poor quality when compared to a desk microphone, so I'd have to consider the additional cost of a desk mic if I didn't get one with a microphone installed. That being said, I may have to get a desk mic if I want to do proper sound recording for YouTube commentaries anyways.
That was a lot to read, but I'm really just looking for some advice as to which pathway I should go down.... any ideas? Desk mic + studio grade headphones or desk mic + gaming headset or no desk mic + something else??? HELP D:
Possible Desk Mic???(popular choice only, I don't endorse its quality because I don't really have anything to judge it to) Blue Microphone Snowball
