Hi all. Longtime lurker and these forums have helped me out many a time!

So here's my problem: The HDMI cable for my monitor fits rather loosely into my computer and gets disconnected by the slightest bump. This in turn causes my computer to freeze and I have to shut it down using the power button. This has never led to any problems except once, when it did some type of large scan on start up. I'm sorry I can't provide more details on this as I don't have a ton of technical saavy, and wasn't really paying much attention. Also this happened a while ago and my computer seems to work fine except for 3 things I've discovered so far, since that scan:

1) Windows Media Player does not work. It just freezes and I have to shut it down using CTRL + ALT + Delete.

2) A game called Dwarf Fortress seems to be missing files, or can not display files, or something. I get no errors, but in this game there are many different ores to mine, and some of them don't load anymore. This is true even after I have done a complete uninstall and reinstall.

3) A game called TEW 2013 gives me a very specific error upon trying to run it:

Connection Error 3447

Warning! Connection to 'C:\Program Files
(x86)\GDS\TEW2013\system\TEW2013Settings.mdb' has failed (The Jet
VBA file (VBAJET.dll for 16-bit versions, or VBAJET32.dll for 32-bit
versions) failed to initialize when called. Try reinstalling the application
that returned the error.). The program must now close.

I have also done a complete uninstall and reinstall for this game, to no avail.

My computer is a Dell XPS 8300, with and Intel Core i7-2600 Processor, running Windows 7 and a 64-bit operating system (so the error specifying 16-bit and 32-bit options is somewhat confusing to me).

Do I maybe need to reinstall windows? Upon using google, I'm led to believe that the VBAJET file has something to do with Visual Basic? However, google also tells me Windows 7 does not come loaded with Visual Basic, and I definitely have not installed it on my own. If anyone has run into a similar problem before and could help me out, it would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,
-Dan
