Theres hundreds of these but it's so hard to diagnose.

On occasion, so far it's every few days my computer will just power off, usually during a game. No warnings or anything it just turns off and doesn't attempt to reboot.
Sometimes when that happens if i try to reboot it will turn on for about 1 second then power off, and it will cycle this until i switch it off. If i wait a few minutes it generally boots okay again.

Specs.
Radeon HD7870
i74770k
2x corsair vengence black 4gig RAM
Sabertooth x79 ASUS mobo
Corsair RM1000 PSU
Corsair H80i cooling for CPU
1tb HDD

I am certain nothing is overheating, and voltages are hard to monitor.
The mobo, PSU, CPU are all brand new.

It's driving me up the wall. The only thing of note that i say i am doing out of the ordinary is this mobo has 8 dimm slots in two sets of four. But because i have a large watercooler one set of dimm slots is unaccessible so i paired my 2 sticks onto one group of four.
I can't see this being an issue, as it's just not reccomended.

Need help :s

Regards.

If the MB has integrated video, use that and take out the GPU. If it stays on, it could be your GPU.
Your CPU could be bad.
If it's shutting down like that, it has to be heat.
PSU may be bad.
What is the socket for the CPU?
Just try the GPU for now. If that doesn't work, I'm not too sure.
Try to use a different computer for games for now. If something is overheating (It may be something that connot be monitored) it can cause serius damage to the board. From something poping to caps exploding (When I say exploding, they really do explode.)

The HeatSkink Compound may have not been put on right. Make sure that it's on right. It sounds like the CPU is over heating. If you over clocked your CPU, the clock may be unstable. But just check the heatsink for now..
