Will going with Intel cost you £200 more? Wow, now it's a hard decision. :p

To be fair, the AMD FX-8350 is a great processor and for the price; you cannot doubt it in anyway (performs similar to some i7's.) However going with the AM3+ socket, you'll be limited in processor upgrades for the future. If you don't mind sticking with the FX-8350 until you're next build (or are willing to spend more on the FX-9xxx series when you want to upgrade later), then I suppose the AMD is a solid option.

You could spend that £200 saved on a graphics card; which in no doubt will get you something high-end. To be honest, the latest...

Personally from my opinion, and in addition if you want to "future-proof" yourself, I'd go with an Intel i5 with a Z97 or H97 motherboard. The Z97 and H97 both support Haswell, and once released will also support Broadwell (5h generation.)

Both the ASRock H97M PRO4 and ASRock Z97 PRO3 are great motherboards, whilst also being more on the affordable side. The Z97 will also allow you to overclock, if you desire.

All the best.

It really depends on what you want from your PC. If your just concerned about gaming and gaming only. Than the FX 8320 or 8350 paired with a good 990FX chipset MB ie: ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 or a GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ is a great choice . If your want better overall speed in everything Then I recommend going going with the Z97 and and an i7 4770K or even an i5 or non K if you don't want to OC. The Haswell CPUs have great Single threaded performance and is noticeable in many tasks and on most DX11 games. Also the Z97 chipset has some new features such as Sata Express which is 10Gb/s. The standard 6gb/s, which is said to be a choke point on SSDs now. If money is no bother than I would get a ASUS Z97-WS .
