Ungrounded Outlets - Component damage?

I've recently noticed some very annoying noises coming from my computer. I noticed the light flickering as well, and when the light flickers, the noises from the computer are interrupted at that exact moment.
I went to check the outlets, and all of them in this part of the house are ungrounded. I ran an extension cord to a grounded outlet and hooked up my PC to that, unfortunately the noises did not stop.

Is it possible my components were damaged by running on an ungrounded outlet?
These correlations, and the fact that it's two components making odd noises, gives me reason to think it's not just parts going bad on their own. I've been on these outlets for about a month and a half.
The components in question are my:

1) Gigabyte GTX760 - it's putting out a high pitched noise, cyclic about every half to one second. Sounds like what one might think a bad bearing sounds like but I've confirmed it's not the fans (I stopped them one by one with a finger while the machine is on), and I also removed the graphics card then went about my business and this noise was gone.
It seems odd to me because this noise is the same whether idle or under load (gaming), but it does appear to be coming from the coils.
This noise makes me not even want to use my computer, or if I am, to use earbuds. The noise started after I moved here within the past month and a half.

2) Seagate SSHD (hybrid drive) - less annoying than the above but it's putting out a strange noise a bit like a refrigerator. It didn't always do this, same time period as above. I also removed the SSHD to confirm this noise is in fact coming from this component.

Any thoughts appreciated on how to further test this, or even how to prove to my landlord that the outlets are in fact damaging my stuff if that may be the case.
