Things to do before/after replacing mobo?

So I'm currently using an ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 mobo, with i5 3570k, and I'd like to upgrade the mobo to an ASRock Z97 Extreme 4, so I can upgrade my CPU. My OS is W7.
I need to know what I need to do before and/or after physically installing the new mobo; things like installing drivers for CPU/mobo, what I need to do with the OS, and backing up files. I've read a lot of guides on the net, and it's all a big blur to me; the physical side of installing new hardware is a breeze, but I've always steered clear of the software side.

I may not be upgrading for a little while longer, but I just want to know what I'm up for when the time comes.

Cheers for any answers provided.

Back up all your stuff and you should be fine then. you might want to look at the possibility of Devils Canyon and Broadwell (all same socket I think) so theres no hurry

I just reposted this question under Motherboards, but couldn't figure how to delete it :/ But yes, I think I've got the disc; it came with the PC, which was custom built.
