Hi there,

So it happen just this morning after I woke up. What happened was I had accidently fallen asleep the night before and had my laptop in sleep mode, with it closed down. So once I opened, everything, as usual, come back on and I logged in. I still had crome up on my desktop part with 3 tabs on, 2 tumblr and 1 I think it was an anime site or something like that. I wanted to check tumblr out, so I refreshed by going on my home button (for thoughts who have a tumblr know) and clicking on it. Now sometimes it takes abit so when I saw that happening, I went to the other tumblr tab and exited out. But heres where it gets weird.
Cromer started not responding and than I tried exiting that out instead altogether. But it didn't work at all. That's when my desktop and everything else froze. Tried to get it unfrozen, but nothing worked. So I tried turning it off and that even didn't work. So I had to take the battery out and shut it off immediately. Once I did that, I went ahead and put the battery back, than turned it on again.

Now I start worrying here

It turns on and goes to the dell loading like usual. Except it was taking longer this time but I thought it was because it was trying to unfreeze itself. After it was finally done, all I got out of it was a black screen and my cursor. Nothing else at all.

Now I'm super worried because while it does realize this at some point and tries fixing the problem itself, I try searching a way to fix it on here, using my tablet. BUT I CANT FIND ANYTHING THAT WILL HELP ME SPECIFICLY FOR THIS AND YES I HAVE TRIED SAFE MODE ALREADY BUT THATS NOT WORKING AND SCARINGLY TAKING FOREVER TO. I REALLY NEED SOMEONES HELP AT ALL FOR THIS, PLEASE! I have so much on there and I just got that laptop because my other one broke 3 years ago. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME! I'll even pay you if you want I just need help is all please...

My laptop is a dell inspiron 15R 15 notebook 'moon silver'

If the drive passes the diagnostic, then it could be a seriously corrupt Windows installation, and you'll need a Recovery Drive to try some repairs.
Create Recovery
If you don't have a Recovery/Installation disk get a friend running Windows 8/8.1 to create a Recovery Drive at the very least. Ensure their Installation is the same (Both 32 or64 bit). You'll need a blank CD (Win 8) or a small (1Gb) USB Pendrive. Simply type 'Create' at your Start Screen. Choose Create Recovery Drive from Settings (Win 8) or from list (win 8.1).
CD can only be created in Windows 8 using Windows 7 File Recovery.
Leave the box unchecked for the Recovery Partition.
Get into BIOS (Setup) and make USB Drive or Optical Drive 1st choice in the Boot menu...

I just got this fixed on mine ... after many diagnostics from DELL Support ... it was caused by VOSTERAN search engine ... which snuck in on an altered update for Flash Player. I used the prompt to update rather than going to a trusted website ... never again.
To get rid of it go to
http://malwareprotectioncenter.com/2014/12/19/vosteran/
for instructions -
The deal is that you have to get in to your computer via SAFE Mode first
1. From the login, in the lower right of the screen, click on power button + SHIFT; and than SHIFT +RESTART
2. Click on Troubleshoot
3. Click on Advanced Options
4. Click on Startup Settings
5. Click on restart
6. Then select F5 which is SAFE Mode and Networking ... then proceed to website and do all the steps in instructions

Foget all that crap what ppl are saying about having a flash drive and doing all that nonsense.. all you gotta do is refresh your computer..

Turn pc off,
Turn pc back on and immediately tap f10 repeatedly until the blue screen pops up.
Select refresh pc or you could wipe the drive if you wanted from there.

Easy easy.. if some reason the refresh doesnt work then do the process again by turning pc back off and repeat but then wipe your drive at the blue screen where its selected

This is very weird. I was able to Ctrl + alt + Del. took me to task manager. Once I was there I was able to right click on one of the files in operation. From there I was able to go to its location on my drive. Which opened up an explorer window. From there I was able to get to desktop which allowed me to open a program I have called system mechanic, which allowed me to Disable to startup programs, as soon as I hit disable the desktop became visible. Smh. Long story short, the description of the startup file referenced a virus. I think I picked it up earlier today trying to download a copy of Safari. I wish this was more technical. But I believe something called Binkiland-Wes had something to do with all of this. Even though I ran a virus scan with McAfee.

i just now had the same problem where my screen would black out and only show my cursor.... and I kept reading and reading on the ways you guys tried to solve the issue. I downloaded the spyhunter as well....nothing would work....what I did to solve this problem I actually stumbled into on accident....very simple....nothing to download...... just make sure you have all the files you need saved or backed up somewhere.....

1.restart computer and select the option run in safe mode with networks (mine was f5)
2.hold ctrl+alt+delete to bring up task manager and at the bottom left of the task manager box it will say either (more details) or (fewer details) make sure you have MORE DETAILS selected.
3.click file and hit run new task.
4.when it lets you type in the box.....................type CONTROL PANEL
5. select user accounts and family safety.
6. select the user account that is blacking out after start up.
7.click make changes to my account in pc settings.

WHEN I DID THIS IT GAVE ME AN OPTION THAT SAID I HAD TO REFRESH WINDOWS BEFORE I COULD MAKE ANY CHANGES TO THE ACCOUNT. SO I CLICKED REFRESH....MY LAPTOP DID ITS THING AND NOW ITS JUST LIKE BRAND NEW AGAIN....ONLY TOOK 15 MINUTES... IF YOU KNOW A FASTER OR EASIER WAY TO GET TO THE OPTION THAT WANTS YOU TO LET WINDOWS REFRESH ITSELF....THATS ALL YOU HAVE TO DO!! ...............................................enjoy hope this works for you guys as it did for me
