Audio interface with firewire

Hi I have a audio interface with a firewire connection, once I plugged it in to my PC with a firewire to usb 2.0 adapter and it fried the PC. Are there any dangerous with firewire adapters? How can my PC be fired just like that? could the audio interface have caused the PC to fry?

Hello... I use a firewire card with my audio device... I have never heard of a Firewire to USB convertor, can you direct me to the product you tried to use? they do Put fuses on USB outputs for this very reason, but will take a solder repair from a knowledgeable service person.
Using such a convertor will affect your latency, is this your only choice or cheap fix/adaptor.
