Could be a hardware or software thing, but I am wondering if there is a headset/program that allows me to set up which sound goes to which ears. As in I want to set up Skype on my left ear and my games on my right and/or listen to music on both ears simultaneously.

if you can get windows to export from two audio devices at once then its possible.

I have a seperate sound card (Xonar) for my headphones/speakers.
I run my headset into the onboard sound card.

So my normal sound and my skype/msn/xfire chat is running through the onboard sound card.

i can control them separate of each other

you could then output on one 3.5mm output with your game and the other 3.5mm output (the seperate soundcard) with your skype. you could then use a Y splitter on your headset input (3.5mm female stereo to 2x 3.5mm mono male) and for each 3.5mm output from the pc use an adapter (3.5mm male stereo to 3.5mm female mono). basically the "stereo" output gets combined into mono since its only going to the one speaker. for stereo sound with music i would just plug your headphones in normally to your pc.

while definitely hokey... it would work provided you can get one soundcard to handle games and another to handle skype. thats the hard part (since windows only likes a single default audio device). i cant help you much there... but from what i understand some programs allow you to specify which device you want to use for output.

Thanks for the info, Ill try and see if I can get it to work. Right now some applications allow me to set up 3D sound and so far those I can just set them, all to my right side or left side (relative) and it seems to work.
