OS: Windows 8.1 (Latest Version)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H
CPU: Intel i7 4770k 3.4GHz
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengence
GPU: MSI GTX770

Hi guys I'm trying to remedy a problem, but also discovered a new one at the same time... When using Audio Software (Cubase 7.5) My systems performance seems to be encountering some sort of strange Disk usage problem causing drop outs in performance and audio pops (None buffer setting releated)

Whilst going through the motions to try and narrow down the cause (Re-installing Windows, re-installing all my software and ensuring all drivers and programs are up-to-date) I've discovered a problem with my BIOs. When I try and access the SATA Performance Settings tab the Bios completely crashes!

It's it possible that my Bios developed a problem since upgrading from Windows 7 and would a Bios Flash help resolve that problem and possibly the other DISK related one too? Everything worked fine before, the only change has been installing Windows 8.1

Thought I'd post an update on what's happening.

I checked my bios and the factory version wasn't the lates Bios that supports the 4th Gen Intel CPUS. Since flashing it the crashing BIOS problem has been solved.

The 100% disk usage spikes are still present though when using or installing any programs. I've searched around the forums and tried

* Adding more virtual memory
* Turning off virtual memory
* Disabling services
* Checked the Disk Process tree usage of background programs to find a culprit but not really found any that suddenly rocket up.

Right now I'm running a dskcheck /f /r on my system. This could be quite some time though... I've been stuck on 10% for an hour.

UPDATE: diskcheck finished and still getting 100% spikes. Also disabled live tiles and windows search. Problem still continues...
