I have an old Kingston 60G SSDNow drive that was playing up and wouldn't reformat so I secure erased it using HDDErase which advised that the drive did support this method. The drive would not re-initialize under windows so I tried under GParted and it just refuses to create a new partition table - there is no error message but also no partition table so the end result is I can't create any new partitions. Should I persist or is this drive ready for the bin...

Any advice appreciated

The drive would not reformat under windows and I did follow that guide after being advised by Kingston to use HDDErase. The drive will not reformat under windows or PartedMagic... I think it is cactus.. and well out of warranty.

So just to be absolutely clear. I tried to reformat this drive under windows but the existing partition with files intact would persist. No error message.
So after email exchange with Kingston tech support I secure erased it with HDDErase. Now under windows 7x64 when I try and initialize the drive I get an error about being unable to update the interface or something..when I try and format under PartedMagic the drive is missing a partition table .. When I try to create one - any format GPT, Mac, Dos it doesn't throw up an error but it doesn't create a partition table either...so I cannot create any new partitions.
