Best upgrades for my machine

So, currently I have a HP pavillion p6565uk (Specs) which has an Asus GT640 GPU (instead of the stock GT230), and a 12 inch fan bolted to the side, which I mainly use for gaming.

The system is getting old now, but I don't really want to get a new machine and start again, so I was wondering what would be the best upgrade routes to follow.

I've considered things like new RAM, GPU, CPU and possibly adding water cooling (for the hell of it), but I'm not really sure about the best route to take (most likely not water cooling).

Also if I was to start again would it be possible to transfer the contents of my HDD to a new one, I have a relatively slow internet connection so I would rather not re-download all of the games I have bought.

I have a budget of around £750 for upgrades, but I can add more if there's good reason for it.

On a side note I would also like to get some new gaming peripherals (keyboard and mouse mainly) to compliment a new upgraded system (not included in £750 budget).

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions, if i added an ssd would I need to re-install all of the currently installed programs or would i not need to? And how much more would a decent i7 be?

On second thoughts, if i couldnt migrate the OS and programs to the ssd think i can get away with dual-booting windows 7 and 8?
