as subject says....
not sure this should be possible...
the only conclusion i can think of, is maybe i'm under-utilizing the
brand new gpu, even overclocked at 1100/1500, it's not coming close
things seem to look a lot better, but framerate is garbage.
my only guess is my monitor maxes out at 1680 x 1050.
anyone else have similar issues or any feedback?
using 14.4 beta driver. Thanks in advance.

I got no Ideas , This is not possible and If it is , you have a Fake 7950.

Did you increase any graphic settings in your games more than when you had a 750ti? If you did, that should happen as you increasing quailty however, it may be the card not able to meet the demands of the higher settings.
Also download techpowerup GPU-Z and it will tell you the card: http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

i have gpu-z and use it frequently.
only other thing i can think, is i'm using the 14.4 beta driver.
Maybe switch to the official stable driver???
or is there a driver farther back that is better optimized for this card?
and no, i haven't increased graphics on games yet, some setting profiles
in games were where they were before so it's an equal comparison.
on the other hand, i was able to crank crisis 3 W-A-Y-Y-Y up from before
cranked up the AA and all the bells and whistles, and the card is eating
that game for breakfast... but EVERY other game i have=fail.

What games. I know some games aren't optimized for AMD gpu like batman arkham knight and upcoming Watchdogs.
Also did you fully uninstall the Nvidia drivers before installing AMD.
Where did you get the 7950 dual X from?

yes, i fully uninstalled nvidia drivers, GE and NvAudio, and any traces even uninstalled precision x and afterburner and their nvidia profiles, Got the 7950 from my cousin, still factory sealed, he ordered it for a new build, then 2 days before he received it, the motor in his card blew up, so his build money got tied up. The games i speak of are... Sleeping Dogs, GTA4(ESPECIALLY THIS GAME), Castlevania LOS2, Crysis 2(worse than 750ti ftw was), however Crisis 3 went up probably 5fold(scratching my head on this one.) Assassins Creed(all versions) have batman, but haven't tried it yet, just cause 2.... and the list goes on..

No, i don't expect this card to do 100fps on everything, but besides crisis, most games aren't even really playable at the same settings as the other card, that's why i think something's wrong, i don't expect this to be a 780 ti, but i expected an upgrade none the less, , something can't be set up right or shitty drivers, something. it's like super stuttery in everything (even with crisis for acouple mins , then it clears up and goes to town butter smooth) but that's the only game, i should say, i also have 3 case fans, and with my cpu overclocked and the card, and one dvd drive and 3 hard drives, i have to be about maxing out the PSU.

I think your power supply is too weak for your build. It is probably running a percentage of the 7950 so you are not seeing the full potential of the performance. I forget to ask about specs. I just saw it now. you have a crappy psu. :s
A quality 650W would be enough including overclocking and headroom.
Good brands: Antec, Coolermaster V series, Corsair(AX, HX,TX series), EVGA Supernova G2 series, Seasonic or XFX

Update, i went and bought a psu today, unfortunetly, locally we don't have any good computer component dealers, so i had to go to bestbuy, the best line they carried was Corsair CX750M, i figured it was better than the 6-8 year old ultra i had, and i will be ordering a better quality one when i decide to cross-fire or sli. i figured this one should do o.k. for now, 62amp on the 12v rail, and it's modular, and i spent right at 100.00usd.

And i know it's not the best power supply, but until it blows up and burns down my pc, it had fixed my performance issues with the gpu btw, thanks for the help guys. reading up on this psu though, i'm a bit nervous, i think i will only run it for a week or so, then order a new one, probably 1000w so later on i don't have to upgrade when i CF/SLi . thanks again guys.
