Computer Will Not Turn On After Outlet Spark

Hello,

Firstly, I am new to this website (although I have read through many threads for help). Although I have taken the time to read the forum rules, I apologize if my formatting is incorrect, in the wrong place, etc.

My story is thus: My computer was working absolutely fine until I went to switch the power cord from one place in the surge protector to another. I stupidly left the power supply on as I did this and noticed a small blue spark as I reconnected the cord. I was immediately concerned even though I have seen this before when plugging in lamps and other appliances. My suspicions were given credibility when I attempted to turn my machine back on with no luck. I immediately assumed my power supply has been fried.

Since then (it has been a week), I have replaced the power supply twice. This has happened before (it wasn't my fault the first time), and I replaced the power supply with the infamous Thermaltake 600w. It didn't turn on then, either, so I left it alone and a friend came over and it turned on as he pushed the power button for some reason. This time I went to Best Buy and got the same Thermaltake 600w PSU to my dismay (it's all they had), and still no sign of power. I returned it and bought this puppy.

I've installed it (checked and double checked the power connections are all there and correctly inserted), and still no sign of power. At this point I figured it was a motherboard issue (I tried both the case power button and the motherboard power on). I tried using the CLEAR CMOS button as well as replacing the 3v coin cell battery on the motherboard (which I thought for sure would work) and still have absolutely no sign of power. I'm thinking my mobo is shot.

Specifications:
Motherboard: Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 760
PSU: Rosewill CAPSTONE-750-M 750W

If any more information is necessary, please ask. This is my first post, after all. Thank you all in advance for your help.

Yes, I have tried three different power cords, and several different outlets (although the power strip and everything plugged into it is receiving power). I can't imagine any reason it wouldn't be receiving power as well. I'd like to specify that I've been using wall outlets on top of trying the surge protector.

Well, your only real option here is to clear the CMOS. Take the battery out of your motherboard, wait a minute, and put it back in. Also make sure the switch on your PSU is in the right position.

"Spark" is not a good sign. If your PSU is damaged, you should not be trying to use it any more.

In my original post, I noted that I already cleared the CMOS, replaced the battery entirely, and replaced the PSU twice. I'm not using the original, or even the same model which is good.

I'm sorry I didn't read your post more thoroughly. I give it a 95% your motherboard is dead. If your system won't even boot up, it's either a loose wire, a grounding problem, or a PSU/MOBO issue. Being as you have replaced the PSU, I'm guess your MOBO is toast.

That was my guess as well, but what struck me as odd is that this same thing has happened before and ended up working with time. I guess I was hoping there was some known issue, but I guess that's just wishful thinking on my part.

One last check I would do is make sure you don't have motherboard standoffs in the wrong place, or if you have metal touching the back of the motherboard where it shouldn't be. But, based on the "spark" - I'm guessing the motherboard fried.

I replaced the mobo with a different model and still the same problem. What on Earth do I do?
