Hello. I'm in need of help I was hoping if any of you kind folks could help me out with a problem am having. Well, I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FW31E laptop which I bought round 2008/09 ish. I've had it since bought new. It came pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. I'm trying at the moment to re-install the whole computer with the recovery discs after a bad virus managed to get inside my computer. There are 5 discs in total, after the computer finishes the full restore I take the final disc out of the drive and it's asks to re-boot. So I re-boot the computer and the Windows loading screen appears and then goes to a black screen and hangs there. It won't let me boot into Windows. Any advice on what should I do next? I've also tried setting the bios to default settings but the black screen still appears after the Windows loading screen. I only use this laptop for low level stuff like web surfing, online shopping, music, movies etc you get the idea. I don't do any heavy work load, and this problem is really annoying. Any help provided would be appreciated thank you.

P.S
I apologize if I'm posting in the wrong section am a newbie to the forum so please excuse thanks.

Tap F8 continuously after turning on your laptop until you see a series of options including "Repair Your Computer". Highlight that and press <enter>.

Now choose "Startup Repair" and if that fixes it fine.

If not, use F8 again after switch-on and this time choose "command prompt"

Type in chkdsk /r" and press <enter> key.

You should then see a prompt to reboot so type in "Y" for yes and press <enter>

The laptop should reboot and check the disk for errors.

Hopefully when it's finished it will continue booting successfully in to Windows.
