Hey there!
ive got a new graphics card (AMD R9 280x XFX 3GB) and i havnt honestly noticed a massive difference when playing games like Arma 2, dayz.
Basically, is my cpu bringing down my gaming experience? this is my spec:
AMD R9 280x XFX 3gb
AMD FX 6100 3.3ghz
8GB ram 1300mhz
1TB HDD
No SSD
Reason im asking this is, because i was going to upgrade to the AMD FX 8350 (or the intel equivalent, i dont know the equivalent tho ^^)
Thanks!

Thanks for the link, here it is: Gigabyte Technology Co, Ltd. GA-970A-DS3 (Socket M2)
Also, speccy has revealed that my ram is only 671MHz. is that bringing my gaming experience down?

Th RAM will not affect anything as that is 1333MHz RAM (it is doubled) no problem there.
Your board is not officially supported with the 8350 (highest 8300) and since it doesn't have cooling on the Vrm's I wouldn't chance it. There have been some people who have gotten it to work and some of those boards had the Vrm's burn up. So it looks to be a gamble.
If it were me I think it might be time for a new CPU/mobo.

With that high level of a GPU, I would just get an Intel build. That would remove the CPU bottleneck and your GPU could really shine.
Are you open to building a new computer or do you want to stay on your AMD motherboard?

i dont wanna build a new comp, but id happily change my mobo and cpu. Would this mobo be ok?: Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 3 Intel Z97
and for the cpu, which one would you recommend? i want either the 8350 or an intel equiv! Which would be the intel equivalent btw?

I think you can choose the i5-4670 (if you wont overclock) or i5-4670k (unlocked). If you choose i5-4670 then change the mobo and get one with H87 chipset. Z97 motherboards are made for overclock.

The Intel i5-4670K (overclockable)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
OR the Xeon 1230v3 (essentially an underclocked i7-4770 for a lot less)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
You get a lot more for your money by buying the Xeon 1230v3. It has hyperthreading, so it has double the threads of the i5-4670K. This makes it a lot like the 8350 in that it has 8 threads.
However, the i5-4670 is overclockable and it has a higher clock speed, so it has better single-thread performance, and the option to increase it much more by overclocking.
I would recommend the Xeon, but both will BLOW AWAY the FX-6100. By pairing it with an Z97 board, you will be futureproofed for the upcoming Broadwell refresh.
For the motherboard, honestly anything Z97 will do marvelously. Get one that is cheap and from a reputable brand (ASUS, Gigabyte, ASrock, and kind of MSi). That one you recommended (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...) looks great!
Hope that helps!

It's funny that everyone recommends the FX-6300 but says the FX-6100 is terrible... In reality, the only difference is a 0.2Ghz difference in base clock. Everything else is literally identical. If you overclocked the FX-6100 by 0.2Ghz it would be exactly an FX-6300. The performance is almost the same between the FX-6300 and FX-6100 to begin with.
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-FX-6300-vs-AMD-FX-6100
A decent i3 outperforms either the FX-6300 or FX-6100.

That should do well! It's too bad it costs so much more on that website.
Are you getting the Xeon or the i5? You can save a bit of money by getting an H97 board if you want to get the Xeon.

These definitely aren't the top spec boards, but Gigabyte is a good company and all of them should work great!

The Xeon overall is probably a better choice, because it is basically an i7 and the i5 is... an i5. It will run amazing and you won't believe how good it is compared to the 6100!

This is a little confusing because you are mixing in the i5 4670 (NON-K) with the i5 4670K. Just to clarify, only the "K" version can be OC'ed.
